What is UMF and why does it matter?

UMF stands for Unique Mānuka Factor. It is the gold-standard certification that tests three markers — MGO, DHA, and Leptosperin — to verify potency, purity, and authenticity. Every batch of Happy Valley UMF Mānuka is independently UMF-tested before it carries the trustmark.

Which UMF grade should I choose?

UMF 5+ and UMF 10+ are everyday grades suited to a daily ritual. UMF 15+ and UMF 20+ are more concentrated and often chosen as gifts or for those who already include Mānuka in their routine. UMF 24+ and above are rare premium grades.

Where does Happy Valley Mānuka come from?

Every jar comes from our own hives in New Zealand. Happy Valley is a 45-year family beekeeping operation — we control every step from hive to home. We are a licensed FernMark user, the New Zealand government's verified Made-in-New-Zealand mark.

How do I use a jar of Mānuka honey?

A teaspoon straight from the spoon, stirred into warm water with lemon, drizzled on porridge or yoghurt, added to toast. Many people keep Mānuka for a morning ritual rather than as a cooking ingredient, because heat dilutes the experience.

Is Happy Valley Mānuka raw and unpasteurised?

Yes. We extract at low temperatures to keep the honey in its natural state — preserving texture, flavour, and the naturally occurring compounds found in Mānuka nectar.

What is the difference between UMF and MGO?

MGO is a single naturally occurring compound. UMF is a full certification programme that tests three markers — MGO, DHA, and Leptosperin. UMF is the more rigorous standard because it verifies authenticity as well as potency.
